Cash Crisis!
By William Lainsbury of Kenya aid appeals
The frustration of donating cash or giving materials for aid to third countries is at an all time high. I have found the system of "aid transfers" lacking in every sense of the word. They are blocked at every turn by some worthless red tape, which leads the donor to give up in exaspiration. Example: Urgent need(on a Sunday)for cash to sent to a slum school in Nairobi. The obvious answer was to use a very well known money transfer service. After finding that all agency outlets are closed it was decided an online transaction be made. Some twenty minutes later the transaction had been set up, the cash via card taken in payment and job done? Only after the transaction is completed are we advised to now go and telephone the said company with the transaction numbers just given. A six mile journey to a public phone followed. The call was made and details passed. Then the full interigation started.Password, key question, DOB, address , full post code. All this was answered promptly. For good measure they where given the senders Gold card membership number. And to add flavour, that the sender sent cash two, three times a week through their service and had done for many years. Thank you said the young lady on the phone. A long pause! "We are sorry the transaction is declined". After a further ten minutes of argument, and pointing out that they already had the money, they had a full history of the sender and receiver, what more did they need? The answer was, "ring this number and they will process the order immediately by phone". The number was duly rung, and yes...you guessed! Auto-girl responds, "The line is no longer available or in use". So we are now left with a deficit in the bank. We have made a twelve mile trip and wasted three hours of our time. Strange that that transaction was to Africa and yet one hour later a similiar amount is sent to America without a seconds thought Whether its cash, goods, services the same senario applies. The west are deliberately making it hard for movement to third world countries. There are always blockages, stoppages, poor excuses and downright ignorance. Every possible reason is given to make these countries no go areas. The reasons would seem obvious. Retaining a strangle hold on the economy of those in need, makes them reliant on Western world services. Western world profits to a large extent in fees charged leaving those who need it most in CASH CRISIS1
